The Perfect Autumn Wedding at The Equinox in Manchester Vermont

Allie and Nick’s fall wedding at the historic Equinox Resort in Manchester, Vermont shows just how breathtaking Vermont fall weddings can be! From the picturesque outdoor ceremony to the beautiful reception hall, every detail was thoughtfully planned and perfectly executed.

About The Equinox Resort in Manchester, Vermont

The Equinox Golf Resort & Spa is quintessential New England wedding venue. The Resort offers multiple elegant settings with remarkable, majestic mountain views, plenty of on-site activities and dining options and high quality service, making it a wonderful wedding destination no matter the time of year.

Allie and Nick’s wedding was the perfect blend of timeless elegance and Vermont charm! The Equinox Resort’s elegant grounds provided the ideal canvas for this masterpiece of a wedding. The Lincoln Lawn, situated in the middle of the Equinox Resort, provided the perfect backdrop (Check out the view of Mount Equinox in the background!) For their reception, Allie and Nick moved the party indoors to the Colonnade ball room, which incorporated seasonal florals and pumpkins into their decor, which popped against crisp white linens. The combination of natural elements and refined decor created an atmosphere that invited guests to immerse themselves in the beauty of the fall season.

After the couple’s romantic first dance, Silver Arrow Band played live music to keep guests energized all evening long! See all of the beautiful details and special moments captured by Vermont wedding photographer Colette Kulig Photography below.

These Brides Crafted a Unique & Meaningful Wedding Day All Their Own

Erin and Rachel’s colorful wedding is sure to put a smile on your face and inspire you today! These two brides had a clear vision for their big day – and with the help of their wedding team, brought those stunning dreams to life with their fall wedding in Waterbury, Vermont.

Colette Kulig Photography captured each heartfelt memory and meaningful detail. This couple’s celebration is a good reminder that with a little creativity and a lot of love, anything is possible when it comes to your Vermont wedding!

A Day Filled With One-of-a-Kind Wedding Details

Erin and Rachel put a lot of thought into every detail, making sure their big day was truly one-of-a-kind. They started the day with handwritten letters that they read to each other during their first look. It was a beautiful and intimate moment that set the tone for the rest of the day.

M’s Wedding Flowers created the lush arrangements that added pops of color to every corner of the venue. From the bouquets to the centerpieces, every detail was autumnal perfection.

The reception was just as fun-filled and creative as the rest of the day. There was colorful confetti, a scavenger hunt, and of course, plenty of dancing. It was a celebration of love and life, and everyone had a great time.

Amazing Bridal Style

But perhaps the most unique element of Erin and Rachel’s wedding was Erin’s black, beaded jumpsuit. This non-traditional bridal look was a showstopper and even won the Best of 2022: Wedding Style category! We can’t stop swooning over it.

Hopcraft Collective crafted hair and makeup looks for the brides that accentuated their natural beauty and matched their styles perfectly.

In Vogue

This unbelievably chic couple looks like they stepped out of the pages of Vogue. Jennifer Perellie created a sophisticated look for the bride that complimented their unique elopement style perfectly.

Timeless Beauties

This couple’s style is as elegant as it is timeless! His black tux, from McNeil and Reedy and her embellished gown from Fiori Bridal, are stunning choices for their wedding at The Essex. (And if the arbor by Tipsy Tulip Designs looks familiar, it’s because it was a pick for the best florals of 2022!)

Photo: Amy Demos Photography

The Two for One

Just look at the ruffles on her skirt – how can you help but soon?! This Veilmonté Bridal Showroom gown had a surprise though; not only was it perfect for a romantic ceremony but the skirt detached revealing a sleak, ready-to-dance reception dress. Amazing.

Black Beauty

This bride was determined to show off her darker style in her wedding attire, and she nailed it! Her black lace top and dip dyed skirt combo are stunning. (She even painted her nails black to match!)

Photo: Madison Anne Studio

Shades of Green

Jaclyn Watson planned this stunning wedding which featured shades of green from the wedding party to the decor. This bridal party totally nailed the mismatched look with their coordinated green dresses. I especially love how their bouquets kept in the same green and white palette, perfectly complimenting the style.

Photo: Kelsey Regan Photography

Classy and Classic

I love this timeliness look by Fawn MUA! The subtle makeup and lush lashes compliment her traditional gown and beaded veil perfectly. Perfection.

Photo: Rob Springs Photography

The Winter Wow

This is what happens when your wedding party not understands the assignment but completely rocks it. From the goggles to the boots to the fur shawls, this wedding party has the après party look locked down!

Photo: Juniper Studios

Black and White Beauties (Readers Choice Awards)

The bride’s beaded black suit is truly unlike anything I’ve seen before; I’m obsessed! Add to that her beloved in a stunningly elegant white gown and the wildly lush bouquets by M’s Wedding Flowers and I’m rendered speechless. Their entire look is a showstopper!

The Cape Sweep

This glamorous couple works in theatre, so it came to no surprise to planner Odyssey Events that they understood drama! The bridal cape adds an unparalleled sense of drama and elegance to their classic look.

Wild and Wonderful

Photographer Hallie Jade got married this year at Wild Sugar, the venue her and husband own and maintain. I love their colorful style – from her veil to their wedding party…it’s a little wild, and totally wonderful.

Modern Love

I love the contrast between the clean, modern lines of the space (how cool is that metal arbor?) with the lush, colorful flowers by Yanique Events. Designed by Ehmann Events, this look is so fresh and lovely!

Photo: Isora Lithgow Creations

Radiant in Red

The bride wore a stunning red sari for her Sikh marriage ceremony, known as the ‘Anand Karaj’, meaning blissful union.  This grand, multi-day event was planned by NJoy Weddings & Events. From the rich colors to her sparkling jewels to her natural excitement, this bride is positively radiant!

Photo: Virdee Films

The Getaway Look

I love this bride’s feathered jacket for the most perfect getaway outfit! It adds a touch of whimsy and elegance to their sparkler exit.

Photo: Idena Beach Photography

French Fête

This couple’s celebration was inspired by classic French culture (they even shared their first dance to a classic French song!). The bride wore an off the shoulder gown, and the groom wore a white tux jacket. The elegant style was mirrored by their decor, including the lush florals by Anaphora Flowers. Each detail provided the perfect ambience for their intimate fête.

Nailing It

I love this close up shot of the bride’s bedazzled nails. The design is fun and glitzy, and the neutral color palette keeps it sophisticated. Hands down, a great look!

Dark and Dreamy

This couple embraced their dark side with a color palette that was both dreamy and dramatic! It’s a great choice for their emotional fall wedding (just try to watch their vows without crying).

HOW TO HAVE THE BEST WEDDING MORNING

I had the best wedding morning. I woke up with my husband and spent the morning at my house hanging with my bridesmaids while we got our hair and makeup done, sipping champagne and catching up. (My husband went out for lunch and jumped in a swimming hole with his groomsmen – it was a very hot summer day!) It was relaxed, simple, and so much fun.

I’ve also been part of wedding mornings that were chaotic and stressful. Ones that left me feeling rushed, hungry, or a just little frazzled heading to the ceremony.

That’s why I know how helpful it is to have a plan for your wedding morning. It’s is the onramp to your wedding celebration, and the goal is a smooth transition that gets you ready and excited.

Read on for our best tips for a smooth, fun wedding morning!

1. Make a clear plan and timeline for your wedding morning

There are a lot of moving parts to your wedding morning, and a lot of emotion. Make a plan with your partner so you both feel good on your wedding morning. Consider the following:

  • What do you want to do the morning of your wedding? (Ex. wake up with your partner, do a yoga class with your wedding party)
  • What do you have to do? (Ex. hair and makeup, get dressed)
  • What do you realistically have time for? (Ex. if you have a 3pm ceremony and 8 person bridal party, that yoga class may not work, but you can wake up with your partner and enjoy a cup of coffee before splitting up to get ready)
  • Who do you want to be with you? (Your wedding morning can be emotional; choose to surround yourself with people who make you feel good. Maybe in addition to your bridesmaids, you really want your aunt there, for example. Many couples choose to get ready separately, but maybe you want to all get ready together!)

Once you know what you want from your wedding morning, you can draft a timeline to keep everyone on schedule. Your unique, final timeline will be created with your vendor team, but we have excellent templates to help you get started in our Ultimate Wedding Planning Guide. (Along with additional tips!)

2. Communicate your expectations about your wedding morning to everyone involved

I recommend sending an email to your wedding party a week in advance with all the details for your wedding weekend. If you need your bridesmaids to be at your hotel room to start hair and makeup by 7am, don’t spring that information on them at 10pm after your rehearsal dinner!

Consider:

  • Where do people need to meet? (Ex. your hotel room, your house, the venue, a salon)
  • When do you need them there? (This is where you’ll rely on your wedding day timeline)
  • What should they bring? (Do they need to bring everything they need for the wedding, or will you be going back to the lodging in between getting ready and the ceremony?)
  • Transportation – are you providing transportation? Is everyone responsible for their own?
  • What do you want them to wear? (It’s important to wear a loose neck or button-down top to avoid messing up hair and makeup)

Clear expectations help everyone feel confident!

3. Set the mood with music on your wedding morning

A fun playlist can help shake off the nerves (and sleepiness) and get everyone in the mood to celebrate! Check out our Spotify Playlists for some inspiration. We curated one specifically for your wedding morning. (Don’t forget to pack and charge a portable speaker.)

4. Pass out gifts on your wedding morning

If you’re planning to give gifts to your bridesmaids and groomsmen, the wedding morning is a great time to do this since you’re all together in a more intimate setting.

Check out our Gift Guide for dozens of unique, Vermont-made gift ideas for your wedding party. If you’re planning to gift something to wear on your wedding day (ex. jewelry, a tie) it’s a good idea to tell your crew not to worry about that item ahead of time so they don’t buy something else in preparation.

5. Take the classic wedding morning picture in matching pj’s with your bridesmaids

One popular gift for bridal parties that’s always a hit is matching pajamas! This also makes for a great photo opportunity. Pop some champagne, pile on a bed and snap your own cute picture with your bridal party. It’s a classic for a reason and still one of my favorite pictures from my own wedding.

6. Don’t Forget to Eat – Ideas for A Wedding Morning Breakfast and Lunch

Nobody wants to be hangry on your wedding day, so don’t forget to feed your crew and eat! Some easy ideas for a wedding morning breakfast that will fill everyone up: a bagel bar, a breakfast casserole (easy to make ahead of time), and a big fruit salad.

Depending on the timing of your ceremony, you’ll want to also provide lunch or at least some heavy snacks as well. Think: a hearty, mayo-free pasta salad or sandwiches.

A mimosa bar and coffee are always fun too!

If you’re getting ready and eating off site from your lodging, we recommend bringing your toothbrush, some mouthwash and some floss so you can freshen up after eating.

7. Do a trial run with your wedding day attire and accessories

Do a test run of everything you’re wearing on your wedding day before your wedding morning. We mean everything from your dress or suit to shoes, accessories, and undergarments.

You don’t want to find out your underwear pinches funny or have to Google “how to tie a bow tie” on the morning of your wedding.

Also, be sure to remove all the extra strings and tags from your clothes, like those pesky hanger loops on bridesmaid dresses or the suit jacket vent threads.

8. Shift your mindset on your wedding morning from “planning” to “celebrating”

Take off your wedding planning hat, and slip on your party hat (metaphorically speaking, or depending on your style, for real). Take a few minutes to admire yourself in the mirror after you’ve slipped on your dress or suit; play a special song and sit quietly; stage a dramatic champagne bottle pop while yelling “IT’S MY WEDDING DAY!” … whatever you need to do to ground yourself in the moment. You’ve done the planning and now the day is here – enjoy and celebrate!

We hope these tips help you start your wedding morning off right!

Quick recap: what is Vermont Weddings Best of 2021 Series?

A little backstory if you’re unfamiliar: we started the Best of series last year (2020) to highlight some of the amazing work by the talented teams in the Vermont wedding industry. It’s an opportunity to both celebrate a year’s worth of weddings and inspire couples who are planning a future Vermont wedding. (A quick note on the word “best”: the intention isn’t to make this a competition between weddings, but to share a small, but representative, sample of the weddings in Vermont this year.  To that end, please know that we love each and every wedding that was submitted, and the final picks are carefully chosen based on a variety of factors to create a compelling series.)

Here’s what you can expect:

All December, we’ll be rolling out inspiring stories in various categories:

  • Read Now: Best of Engagements
  • Best of Style
  • Best of Flowers
  • Best of Party Animals
  • Best of Design & Details
  • Best of Elopements
  • Best of Location
  • Best of Community

Plus, because the submissions were just THAT good, we’re sharing our “semi finalist” picks for each category on Instagram. That means you’ll want to follow us to see even more highlights, and come back to the blog each week to see the “best” picks in each category.

We recommend signing up for our newsletter – we’ll send you an email each week with the highlights so you won’t miss a thing. (Going forward we only send 1 – 2 emails a month.)

A FAIRYTALE CASTLE WEDDING SET IN VERMONT’S NORTHEAST KINGDOM

And they lived happily ever after! This couple’s fairytale wedding was set in a one-of-a-kind hidden castle in Vermont’s serene Northeast Kingdom. “This wasn’t just a castle wedding,” says bride Casey. “It was an intimate, romantic wonderland focused on family, and making lifelong memories!”

Colette Kulig Photography and EightZero2 Productions captured those memories in the beautiful gallery and video below, marked with bright, bold colors adding to the whimsical, joyful vibe of the day. Casey says, “I can’t express how amazing our vendor team was. They made the day picture perfect.” It was heaven on earth!”

THIS COUPLE CELEBRATED THEIR MICROWEDDING WITH A SUNSET CEREMONY AND DINNER

Alison and Simon’s elegant microwedding at The Essex Resort and Spa was “touching and sweet” says photographer Colette Kulig. The couple downsized their original wedding plans (due to Covid-19) and focused on the details that mattered most to them – a meaningful ceremony and an intimate dinner with immediate family and best friends at sunset. We love how the couple used a blue color palette throughout to bring all the details together! Check out their full gallery below!

THIS COUPLE HOSTED AN ELEGANT AL FRESCO DINNER PARTY FOR THEIR FALL WEDDING

When asked about today’s wedding, photographer Colette Kulig enthusiastically responded, “SIMPLE ELEGANCE is literally the definition of this wedding.” We couldn’t agree more. From bride Laura’s old Hollywood glam style, to the beautiful tablescape, each detail is perfection.

Laura and Jared celebrated their wedding with a traditional church service and an intimate dinner party on The Taconic‘s patio with close loved ones. After their al fresco dinner party, the couple kicked off the dance floor with an acoustic cover of Taylor Swift’s “Lover”, and their guests joined them under the twinkle lights long into the evening.

A GOLD AND GREEN WEDDING AT SUGARBUSH RESORT

With touches of gold and green, Ali and Kevin’s Sugarbush Resort wedding is timeless and elegant. Photographer Colette Kulig captured their special day and noted one of the most unique details is something often overlooked in wedding blog talk: the groom’s band. Ali made the ring in a high school jewelry class and worn it for years before the couple had it resized for Kevin. Such a fun, special detail! Check out the full celebration below.
