Quick recap: what is Vermont Weddings Best of 2021 Series?

A little backstory if you’re unfamiliar: we started the Best of series last year (2020) to highlight some of the amazing work by the talented teams in the Vermont wedding industry. It’s an opportunity to both celebrate a year’s worth of weddings and inspire couples who are planning a future Vermont wedding. (A quick note on the word “best”: the intention isn’t to make this a competition between weddings, but to share a small, but representative, sample of the weddings in Vermont this year.  To that end, please know that we love each and every wedding that was submitted, and the final picks are carefully chosen based on a variety of factors to create a compelling series.)

Here’s what you can expect:

All December, we’ll be rolling out inspiring stories in various categories:

Plus, because the submissions were just THAT good, we’re sharing our “semi finalist” picks for each category on Instagram. That means you’ll want to follow us to see even more highlights, and come back to the blog each week to see the “best” picks in each category.

We recommend signing up for our newsletter – we’ll send you an email each week with the highlights so you won’t miss a thing. (Going forward we only send 1 – 2 emails a month.)

VENUE SPOTLIGHT ON THE EQUINOX RESORT IN MANCHESTER, VERMONT

The Equinox Golf Resort and Spa is quintessential New England wedding venue located in Manchester, Vermont. The Resort offers an elegant setting with plenty of on-site activities and dining options, and high quality service. Whether you’re looking to host a large, elegant wedding or an intimate adventure-filled celebration, the team at the Equinox has something for you. Read on to learn more about this Vermont wedding venue!

The vibe: How would you describe the Equinox Resort?

The Equinox Resort is a historic New England Resort offering luxury accommodations, world-class amenities, and timeless charm. With its scenic beauty, The Resort is the perfect backdrop for a Vermont wedding in any season.

The space: What are the wedding ceremony and reception spaces like?
The Resort offers three unique venues for couples’ special day, all with Vermont charm:

The Pond Pavilion is located on Mount Equinox and is a rustic boat house perfect for rehearsal dinners, ceremonies, and wedding receptions for up to 80 guests. This event space is available mid-May through mid-October.

The Colonnade Ballroom, featuring floor to ceiling windows overlooking Mount Equinox, is the picture-perfect location for a wedding reception of up to 200 guests. This is an ideal choice for couples looking to have both an outdoor and indoor option for the evening. Along with the Ballroom, this space offers the Lincoln Lawn for the ceremony and cocktail hour.

The Meadows Tent, surrounded by trees and picturesque mountain views, can accommodate up to 300 guests. The cocktail hour and ceremony would take place outdoors on the 1811 Lawn.

The amenities: What do you provide for weddings?

In addition to the three event locations mentioned above, The Equinox offers 195 guest rooms and suites, ranging from Vermont-rustic to modern-luxury in style. This provides plenty of space for guests to stay and celebrate all weekend long! There are also five on-site dining locations for guests to take advantage of during their stay.

Most notably, The Equinox is a four-season resort and playground for outdoor adventurers, offering a diversity of activities for every inclination. The Resort offers a spa, 18-hole championship golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool, a 14-acre pond, and many outdoor adventures, such as hiking, boating, off-roading, snowmobiling, and more!

The area: What is there to do in Manchester, Vermont?
In addition to the several on-site activities at the Resort, Manchester, Vermont has a lot to offer! It’s a charming mountain town boasting many local eateries, designer shopping outlets, and a great art scene. Not to mention it is the home of Orvis Outdoors, world class fly fishing and clay shooting.  In the winter months, the Resort is conveniently located close to both Bromley (15 minutes) and Stratton (30 minutes) for skiing and snowboarding.

The history: What’s the history of The Equinox Resort?

Nestled in the Green Mountain National Forest in Manchester, Vermont, The Equinox has played host to American Revolutionaries, U.S. presidents and generations of vacationing families.

Three rapid fire questions:

1. Favorite moment during a wedding? We recently had a Greek Wedding at the Resort. During the reception, they had many songs where the guests would throw money out onto the dance floor, per tradition. Watching the faces of the grandparents throwing the money, and the bride and groom laughing and smiling was just so special! It is these little moments that make each wedding different, unique, and special in their own way.

2. Favorite thing to do in VT? Enjoy the outdoors! The state is so beautiful in all seasons.  Incorporate the outdoors into your photos and overall event.  You will not be disappointed!

3. Best advice for couples? Plan your wedding for you… not anyone else! During your celebration, take just a few minutes for you as a couple and look around; the day goes by so quickly and even just a few minutes of sitting back and watching your guests helps you to capture the memory!
