How did you get into wedding photography?

The art school I attended in Philadelphia had a bulletin board for couples seeking students to photograph their weddings. None of my fellow students were interested, so I grabbed them all. True story: I had never even been to a wedding before I photographed one! I’m eternally grateful for those couples who trusted a novice student with such an important day in their lives. I then went on to work with some of the best photographers in Philadelphia until starting my own business.

How would you describe your style?

Timeless, thoughtful, and photojournalistic.

What inspires your work?

The uniqueness of the people, places and spaces in front of me.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

Collaboration. I’m quiet, but also an extrovert, so I really enjoy working with clients and fellow vendors throughout the process. I also love the variety of work that comes with being a professional photographer and owning a business.

Any special tips for couples getting married?

Do what feels right for you as a couple. Make your plans, and on your wedding day, let it all go and enjoy the moment.

What’s your favorite moment during a wedding?

I don’t have a specific favorite wedding moment, but I do have a favorite moment from each wedding I have photographed. Every event is a little different; the people create my favorite moments.

What song gets you on the dance floor at a wedding?

Any song that livens the reception and inspires people to move!

What’s your favorite thing to do in Vermont?

My husband and I love to hike and rock climb in Vermont. One of my favorite hikes we’ve done so far in Vermont is Mount Ascutney after the first snowfall. Other Vermont highlights for me… climbing at Deer Leap in Killington, strolling around Woodstock (where we live), enjoying a maple creemee by the lake… we really just love living here!

If you weren’t a wedding photographer what would you do?

I’ve been a professional photographer my whole adult life, so it’s difficult to imagine doing anything else. I dreamed of being a photojournalist when I was young and grew into a well-rounded professional shooting everything from events to interiors, politicians to food, and even a few celebrities along the way.

What’s a fun fact about yourself?

I’ve been to 48 states, 27 national parks and 16 countries. Travel and adventure is a big part of my life. In 2016 my husband and I left our home in Maryland, built out a Ford E250 van, packed all of our hiking and climbing gear and traveled the United States. It was on that adventure that we decided to call Vermont our next home.
